A NEW ORIGINAL BALLET

This Halloween season, Ballet Pixelle will take its original ballet, “Immortal Waltz”, on a Halloween week tour through Second Life:

News and Notes

*****
What is life?  Isn't it movement? A constant cycle of movement, no movement, movement... through the ages.  Dance to dance!
We see an old lady sitting in a graveyard watching herself lying in a grave.
Suddenly, the dead lady vanishes and the living one begins moving.   Then other dead people begin to appear and move bringing themselves to life.
The people, now alive, create a strange dance party of wild and wonderful characters.  They live on through dance!
Then, in a wistful solo, we look inside the dreams of the Lady, who is called Margaret.
After this time, each person ceases movement and disappears until we are left at the beginning with the old lady and her dead self.  The cycle is complete for this time but will continue again....
Everything is just a little out of the ordinary in this world where a waltz is immortal and eternal.
Join us for an evening of mysterious pleasure.  Discussion follows all performances.  Meet the dancers and get autographs and take photos with them.
Come early because seats fill quickly.
And we can always send a hearse for you...
Come early because seats fill quickly.

Ballet Pixelle™ is the first performing ballet company in the virtual global community Second Life.   Says the Company's founder, Inarra Saarinen, “As artistic director of the Company since its inception, I have enormous pride in Ballet Pixelle™.  Our goal is to investigate and explore the interaction and intersection of physical and virtual dance.  We are excited to celebrate the future of dance.  We are dancing into the digital future!”

Members of Ballet Pixelle™ come together from all over the world, Japan, Europe, and North America.  Animations are created by Inarra Saarinen and put into dance phrases.  There are no artifical synchronizing devices and the dancers truly perform dancing with each other and the music.  Each performance is truly live and unique, and takes advantage of the characteristics of Second Life to extend the art of the ballet in new directions.
