2016 BIZ: Kitely Market now allows revenue splitting. Ann Tree Prenyour comments

Kitely Market now allows revenue splitting

Revenue Splits. Kitely added a new feature to Kitely Market recently: Revenue Splits enable merchants to share the revenue that they get from selling a product with other merchants who contributed to the creation or marketing of that product.

Revenue splits

Who cares about revenue splits?

  • Content creators who want an easy way to sell on Kitely market.
  • Content creators who would rather build than sell.
  • Marketers who would rather sell than build.
  • Shoppers who would like to buy from a large selection.
  • Market managers who want to increase inventory.
  • Ann Tree Prenyour, who wants to see virtual world marketing get modern.

Ann Tree Prenyour:  So now Kitely Market offers the infrastructure to let marketers handle importing and marketing, while content creators create content.
        -
Selby:  That was what you were calling for back then:
Ann: People from my family can start aggregating, building a reputation, and marketing.
        -
Selby:  So they start aggregating now?
        -
Ann:  Of course not.  They start with deciding what to aggregate.
        -
Selby:  How about gathering what everybody wants to buy?
        -
Ann:  Kitely Market already does that.  You need to aggregate things where you know enough to add value.  You gotta know the territory.  You know fashion, maybe you aggregate fashion.  You know boats, you aggregate boats.
        -
Selby:  How do you add value to products already finished?
        -
Ann:  Selection, arrangement, location, promotion.   Say you know fashion-- the sexy kind. Then you know the target audience and how to reach them.   You know the sexy fashion blogs.  Maybe you have even posted articles in them.  Maybe you even have your own sexy fashion blog.  You can use blogs to advertise your products.
        -
        Selby:  Advertising adds value?
        -
Ann:  Sure does.  A rock was just a rock was just another rock until somebody put it on display and marketed it as a "Pet Rock."   Even then, it was probably worth only $1.99 till somebody marked it $5.35 then crossed that out and offered it for $2.99.
        -
Selby: Okay.  Advertising adds value.   What about selection and arrangement?
        -
Ann: You go to Kitely Market and search for sexy fashion, you find about seven items.   Search for sexy alone, you get 69 items. Search for Fashion alone, you got 176 items.  You search for clothing, you find 1,184 items.    How will you find the clothes you want?
        -
Selby: Value added lies in making it easier to find what you want.
        -
Ann: Right.  You find out what your customers want and aggregate it where they can find it easily.  You don't just sit around and wait for creators to offer you stuff.  You go looking for it, for example in SL. You talk to the creators to get them to produce it.  You look for creators who will produce it and let you sell it for them.
        -
Selby:  Do you think the aggregators will really do this?
        -
Ann:  Only the successful ones.  The others will just complain that selling sexy goods does not work on the Hypergrid.
        -
        Selby:  Aggregators become promoters, then.
Ann: And entrepreneurs.  My family.   That's why it's a smart move by Kitely market.  They give more people a significant incentive to work on building traffic to Kitely Market.  With social media, the more people you have promoting something, the more free promotion you have.
        -
Selby:  Is there more to be done on this?
        -
Ann: Sure. Community-oriented marketing.  Suppose an aggregator also leads a community.  Sells land to members of the community.  Think where that could go.
        -
Selby:  Tune in another time, when we hear Ann say "Keep your eye on the people.  They're the ones who have the money."
